I am a black small business owner. The purpose of "Because I Care" is to send care packages to those who are not weathering the storm - any storm - very well. We all have family and friends who are depressed, sad, or just plain lonely. I started doing this when the lockdown first started, sending packages to my daughters because they were getting so depressed and woebegotten and it was stressing me out.

Then, a friend of mine lost his sister and I sent him a care package of his favorite chocolate sweets, just to let him know that I cared. After a couple of months, when it looked like lockdown, social distancing and all the rest was going to be a long protracted process, I decided to offer my Because I Care packages to others. And that is how Because I Care packages came into being. It was a no-brainer for me, because I love baking, and sharing what I create is the best part for me.
